Mini-Tiller Box

Created a 3D Printed Box with a small (about 40% actual size) 737 Nose Gear Tiller, a miscellaneous slider linear potentiometer, and 2 misc. push buttons.

This box has a Arduino Micro Pro in it, which is one of those which looks like a Joystick to Windows, if the right software library is loaded. Initially, I wrote code to read the Tiller (which has a Hall-effect sensor and 2 magnets) and via the Arduino Interpolation code, converted the range of motion to 0 - 1023.

PMDG Boeing 737-800

The PMDG Boeing 737-800 is maintained through a separate app. From time to time it discovers updates and offers to update them. Sometimes there are problems with the app such that it fails to connect to its PMDG server.

If we update a 737 with the app, then the next time we load the 737 inside of MSFS 2020, it takes much longer for that 737 to load up. This is because MSFS compiles this airframe after it is changed. This could take perhaps 20-30 minutes.

MSFS 2020

SimVars are “simulation variables” and they are the way that third party APIs and add-ons can get information about the current state of the simulation. In general these variables are used to control aircraft behaviors by permitting you to retrieve data about things like weather conditions, position, or aircraft status, and in many cases they can also be used to modify something within the simulation, in particular aircraft instruments and controls - although they can also have many o…

Drone controls not working

Fix was to press “c” which causes drone controls to control the aircraft instead of the drone. Press “c” to toggle back.
