Rick Info

Stanley LED Spotlight

I gave this to him some time ago. The batteries no longer can hold much of a charge so I am trying to replace them, since the spotlight is otherwise in good condition.

Battery Pack

There are 6 AAA Ni-MH 1.2V cells, 700mAh. The outside cover read like this:

Ni-MH AAA 700mAh 7.2V
Do not dispose of in fire or
short circuit.
Lexel 0907.

I couldn't find a direct replacement by searching. 8/16/2016

There are four conductors attached to the six cells: Black, red, grey and white. I'm assuming there are two wire pairs, connected to each set of three batteries. When I receive replacement cells, I'll take apart the old battery pack and solder to the new cells. 8/16/2016.

Ground resistance

A good pump needs to have 500K or more between Ground (Green) and each of the 3 wires.

Winding resistance

A good 1.5 HP pump needs to have resistances as follows.

Yellow to Black1.7 to 2.1 ohms
Yellow to Red7.5 to 9.2 ohms

Pump not working 12/22/2020

Rick called me to say that the pump stopped pumping. I went to his house and saw that Julie had pulled the main circuit fuse box in the pump house. There was a heater plugged in, which is tapped to half of the 240 volt supply. I measured the resistance values as follows, and when all looked fine, turned on the main circuit breaker and immediately heard the pump running, and the pressure gauge began to raise. Went inside the house and the water was running fine.

Not sure what happened. The fuses in the fuse box are cartridge type, and may be old - maybe they need to be replacing, or contacts are intermittent. Also the pump may have a brush-to-commutator contact issue. Concerned that one of the crimp connects could be failing, but the fact that operation has returned with nothing changed (other than disconnecting/reconnecting the power leads to do the resistive test) confuses the cause.

As of 12/24/2020, the pump continues to run.

Measured Values (on 12/22/2020)

Ground to Yellow, Black, Red1.6 Meg ohm typical
Yellow to Blackabout 2.2 ohms
Yellow to Redabout 6.3 ohms
